New house design

People choose to design a new house for a number of different reasons. Some people have a dream house in their mind for many years, others find themselves with an opportunity to build a house without having given it much consideration.

It is becoming rarer to find an infill or rural located plot with nothing currently built on it, although these plots do occasionally materialise. We have become increasingly involved in the demolition of an existing property and replacement with a new dwelling on an existing site.

Every new house we believe is unique, each of our clients of course is also unique and has their own thoughts and requirements. In the 20 plus years' the practice has been running, we haven’t yet built two identical properties.

Gaining planning consent for a new house can be a tricky process as there are planning policies in place that differ from one local authority to another. These need to be considered carefully when approaching a design from the outset.

Our planning consultant will be able to advise from the outset as to the likelihood of gaining approval and what particular planning policies need to be considered whilst designing any particular new or replacement dwelling. Each site will have its own individual elements that need to be carefully considered.

We work for a mixture of private clients and small property developers when gaining consent for new houses.

We will help at every stage, whether it be measuring an existing plot or accurately drawing the land available, right the way through to finding a suitable builder and managing the project through to its completion.

We are able to draw on many years’ experience when designing houses. Through the planning process the critical aspect is predominantly the external appearance and we design all our properties using three-dimensional computer modelling software which enables the client to fully understand the design process from the very beginning, and to get a good feel for what the house will finally look like.

As part of the design process we also like to consider how the building flows, therefore we are able to offer advice on internal details such as internal sliding hidden doors and comfort background lighting, all of which we have been involved with at different stages with various projects, and are able to help bring ideas forward to create not just a house, but a real home for your future.
